By correlating the surface locations of the data together with the subsurface structures, we can determine more accurately the exact shape and location of a reflector in the subsurface. HandyGeo lets you see the layout of survey lines on a map, and it also lets you label the line name next to the line, so for each point along the line on the surface, you can see the exact mirror reflection of the same position in the subsurface. The picture below shows the actual surface locations of two seismic lines on a map and their corresponding subsurface structures. If we correlate each surface point with its corresponding subsurface point, we can easily determine the shape and location of that strong reflector seen on both lines.
